The bed sits off the floor on a metal frame, so your pet lies on a taut breathable mesh instead of a warm tile or a draughty floorboard. In summer the air moves right through the panel and the surface stays cool, and the padded bolster along one side gives a head to rest against.
The cover is a tough fabric that wipes clean and pulls off to wash, and the mesh takes a hose or a damp cloth without holding the smell. Three sides stay open so a cat or a small dog steps on and off on their own. A padded floor bed traps heat and holds damp, which is why a hot dog paces off it in July. This one turns the sleeping surface into a stretched mesh with air under it, so the pet cools from below, and the frame keeps the whole thing off a floor that gets cold at night. When it gets grubby the cover comes off and the mesh hoses down, instead of a stuffed bed you cannot really clean.
