Open Weave

FAQ

Questions before checkout

Is this a covered bed or an open one?
It is a covered dome bed. The woven body arches into a high roof with a wide front opening, so your pet steps into a sheltered, den like spot rather than lying in the open. Cats and small dogs settle into a covered corner because it feels tucked in and calm, while the wide opening still lets them see out and step in with no lip to climb. The open weave keeps air moving through the dome.
Can I take the cushion out to wash it?
Yes. The inner cushion is a soft cotton pad with a zip off cover. Unzip the cover, slip it off and machine wash it on a cold cycle, then let it air dry before you put it back inside the dome. Being able to lift the cushion out makes the bed simple to keep fresh, since the part that holds fur and warmth is the part you can wash, while the woven body only needs a wipe with a damp cloth now and then.
Is it real rattan?
It depends on the colorway you pick. The pale, natural tones use a real woven natural fiber, while the deeper tones use a bite resistant imitation rattan. The imitation rattan looks like woven cane but stands up better to a pet that likes to chew. Both builds are shaped into the same domed nest with a wide opening, so you choose the look and the durability that suit your home.
Which pets is it suitable for?
It is made for indoor cats, small dogs and rabbits that like a covered spot to curl into. The dome arches high enough for a medium cat to turn around and stretch, and the wide front opening lets a small dog step in and settle with a blanket over the top. Rabbits stretch out on the cool cotton cushion. If your pet is larger, check the size in the variant list before you choose.
Will it tip over when my pet jumps in?
No. The base panel is flat and sits level on hardwood, so the dome holds steady rather than rocking when a pet climbs in or turns around. The weight sits low and the wide base spreads it out, which keeps the bed stable under a restless nap. Place it in a corner or beside the sofa and it stays put through the day, so your pet learns that this is a settled, reliable spot to come back to.
Where is the best place to put it?
A quiet corner or a sunny spot by a window works well. Cats like to claim the dome for afternoon naps where it holds the warmth from the window, while a calm corner beside the sofa gives a small dog a settled base near the family. Because the bed reads more like a small piece of furniture than a crate, it sits well in a living room, and it is light enough to lift with one hand.
Does the open weave keep it cool?
Yes. The basket weave is tight enough to hold its shape but open enough to breathe, so air moves through the walls of the dome from every side. That airflow keeps the inside from feeling stuffy or warm, which matters for a covered bed where a pet spends a long stretch curled up. The cotton cushion stays cool to lie on as well, so a rabbit or a cat can settle in comfortably even on a warmer day.
How do I keep the woven body clean?
Wipe the woven body with a damp cloth whenever it needs a freshen up, then let it air dry on its own. Avoid soaking the weave or putting the body in water, since a soak can loosen the strands and let the shape relax over time. For the part that collects fur and warmth, the cushion, simply unzip the cover and machine wash it on cold. The whole bed stays easy to keep fresh.
