This is a diatom mud absorbent mat, a square slab of natural diatomite that pulls moisture straight off the surface the moment a cup, glass or pot lands on it. No towel, no wiping, no ring of water left behind on the counter when you lift the bottle away.
The slab is matte and slightly chalky to the touch, the way raw diatomite always feels, and it sits flat on a non-slip base that keeps it from sliding when you press a wet glass onto it. The square shape and minimalist solid color let it disappear into a kitchen counter, a dining table runner or the corner of an office desk.

Diatomite is riddled with microscopic pores, so the slab wicks water inward and lets it evaporate instead of pooling on top. That same porous structure makes it slow to pass heat, which is why a hot pot sits on it without scorching the table below.
