Foot on the floor, the moulded shell dropped down the outside of the ankle and the stirrup slid under the arch. The padded cuff comes round, then the dial turns between two fingers and the cable pulls the whole thing in a click at a time. Turning it the other way lets it all off again in one movement.

The dial is the difference. A strap brace has as many tension decisions as it has straps, and they interact. Measure before ordering rather than after. The maker publishes both dimensions for each size, so a tape round the ankle and along the foot answers the question in a minute. Choose the side carefully as well: the shell is handed, and a left brace will not sit on a right foot.
Day to day it goes on before the shoe and comes off after it. Slide the stirrup under the arch first, seat the shell against the outside of the ankle, close the cuff, then turn the dial in small steps and walk a few paces between them. Most people find the right number of clicks in the first week and repeat it without thinking after that.
Release the dial fully before pulling the brace off, otherwise the cable drags across the guides. Wipe the shell with a damp cloth, let the cuff dry in the air rather than on a radiator, and check the guides and rivets every few weeks, since a frayed cable is the one part of this design that ends its life.
Is this a certified device? The maker publishes no certificate and no test report for this brace, and we make no health claim for it. It is sold as a moulded plastic brace with a dial and a stirrup.
