Solar Candle Ball Lantern

Solar Glow

Solar Candle Ball Lantern

A round openwork metal lantern that charges from daylight and casts a soft flame-effect glow at dusk. The built-in solar panel powers a rechargeable cell, while a light sensor switches it on at night and off at sunrise. The cut-out ball scatters warm patterned light across patios, paths and garden beds, with no cords, wax or open flame to manage.

Metal Frame

Openwork Ball, Weather Ready

The Solar Candle Ball Lantern is built around an openwork metal ball cut with a fine pattern. By day the integrated solar panel charges the cell; by night the warm LED throws that cut-out pattern across nearby surfaces. The metal frame stands up to outdoor weather on a patio, balcony rail or garden hook through the warmer months.

Garden Light

Hang It Or Set It Down

Seen in a garden setting, the Solar Candle Ball Lantern rests on a table, clips to a rail or hangs from a shepherd hook over a path. The flame-effect LED gives the warm look of candlelight with no smoke or flame, lighting a patio, balcony or walkway after sunset and switching itself off again at dawn, night after night through the season.

Why this product

Why people choose it

  • 1

    Solar Charged

A small solar panel on top of the flame effect tea light charges through daylight, so there are no cords, plugs or disposable batteries to manage.

  • 2

    Openwork Metal Ball

The cut out wire cage frame scatters patterned shadows across a table, a fence post or a garden bed once the light comes on at night.

  • 3

    Flame Effect Candle

The LED flickers like a real candle flame with no smoke, wax or open fire, so it sits safely near plants, fabric and timber.

  • 4

    Dusk To Dawn Sensor

A built in light sensor switches the glow on by itself at nightfall and off again at sunrise, so there is nothing to press.

How it works

How to set it up outside

  • Charge it in daylight
    1

    Charge it in daylight

Set the lantern where the solar panel on the tea light catches a few hours of direct daylight. There is nothing to plug in. The panel tops up the cell through the day so it is ready to glow by evening.

  • Hang it or set it down
    2

Hang it or set it down

Clip the chain and hook over a branch, a shepherd hook, a pergola beam or a rail, or lift the chain off and rest the metal ball on a table, a windowsill or a garden wall.

  • Let the sensor do the rest
    3

Let the sensor do the rest

A built in light sensor switches the flame effect glow on by itself at dusk and off again at sunrise. There is no switch to press and no timer to set, so it just lights up each evening.

  • Wipe it now and then
    4

    Wipe it now and then

Open the two halves of the ball, lift out the tea light and wipe the panel and the metal frame with a soft cloth so the glow stays clear. Bring it in over harsh winter weather to keep it fresh.

Benefits

Soft light, nothing to manage

  • A glow that runs itself

The solar panel charges the tea light through the day and a dusk to dawn sensor lights it at nightfall and rests it at sunrise, so there are no cords, no batteries and nothing to switch.

  • Patterned light from the ball

The openwork metal cage scatters a soft lattice of shadow across a table, a wall or a fence once the LED comes on, so the lantern reads as a garden detail rather than a plain lamp.

  • Candle look, no flame

The LED flickers warmly like a real candle but with no smoke, wax or open fire, so it sits safely near plants, fabric and timber where a real candle would be a risk.

  • Hang it or stand it

Each ball comes with a chain and hook to hang it from a branch, hook or rail, and the chain lifts off so you can rest the ball on any flat surface instead.

  • One or a whole set

Choose a single ball for a doorway or windowsill, or a set of four to line a path, hang a row along a pergola or cluster a warm pool of light on the patio table.
