Do I need to plug it in or charge it by hand?
No. The panel on top of the lantern charges through daylight, so there is no cable, no plug and no outdoor socket to find. You set it where it catches the sun, and it tops up on its own through the day to glow once the light drops in the evening.
Can it stay outside in the rain?
Yes. The sealed iron housing carries an IP65 rating, so it handles rain, splashes and damp seasonal weather without fogging up or shorting out. For long stretches of hard frost it helps to bring it under cover, which keeps the seal and the iron finish in good shape over time.
How does it turn on and off?
A built in light sensor handles it for you. The lamp switches on as the light fades at dusk and switches off again at sunrise, so there is no switch to flip and no timer to set. You walk past it on an evening and the floral shadow is simply there across the wall or lawn.
What pattern can I choose?
You pick the version at checkout. The warm white options cast a mandala, a sunflower or a peony shadow from the cut iron stencil, and there is a mandala version that throws shifting RGB colour instead of warm white. Each one spreads its pattern across nearby walls, fences and grass once the lamp lights up.
Where can I place it?
Three ways. Push the included stake into soil in a flower bed or beside a path, stand the lantern on a deck, step or table, or hang it from a balcony hook. Wherever it sits, keep the top panel where it catches daylight so it charges fully for a long glow after dark.
How long does the light last each night?
It depends on how much sun the panel gets during the day. After a bright day of charging the lamp lights through the evening and into the night, and on shorter or cloudy days the run time is naturally a little shorter. Placing the panel in open daylight rather than deep shade gives you the longest glow.
Is the light harsh or soft?
It is soft. The LED sits behind the cut iron, so the pattern reads as a gentle floral shadow rather than a bright beam. The low lantern shape keeps the light close to the ground, so it adds detail to a wall or lawn and works as garden decor rather than a flood light that washes the whole space out.
Will it look right in the garden by day?
Yes. The retro cut iron lantern has a tidy shape with the floral stencil worked into the metal, so it reads as a decorative piece even when it is off. Many gardeners leave it out on a path or patio through the season, where it adds shape in daylight and a warm floral glow once the sun sets.
