They are sculpted. Each one is a strip of the same knit rolled and stitched into a rose, then anchored either side of the waist seam so it stands proud of the fabric by a good centimetre. Below them a scalloped peplum flares out in petal shaped points, and below that the skirt drops straight into a close pencil line that the maker measures at 110 cm from the shoulder at S and 115 cm at 3XL.
The rest is deliberately quiet so the roses have something to sit against. Plain round neck, no collar, seams running up from the neckline over the shoulder into long sleeves that measure 53 cm at S and 58 cm at 3XL. The cloth is a knit of polyester and spandex with a medium stretch, which is what lets a pencil skirt this close still let you climb a flight of stairs.
Best for: Office days that turn into something afterwards, anyone who wants one detail rather than a busy print, and the wardrobe gap between a plain work dress and something you would call an outfit.
Everything on this dress points at the waist. The bodice seams narrow towards it, the peplum flares away from it, and the two roses sit right on the line where those two things meet. That is a lot of construction for a dress with no pattern on it at all, and it is why a flat block of colour does not read as plain. The knit holds the roses upright instead of letting them flatten, which a woven of the same weight would not do.

Open the back neck zip, step in, zip it up. The roses want a second of attention afterwards to sit them level either side of the centre, and after the first wear you will do that without looking.
It reads as a work dress until about six in the evening, at which point the roses take over and it stops reading as one. That is the practical case for it: the same dress covers a desk and whatever comes after it without a change of clothes.
Store it hanging rather than folded, because the roses are the part that will crush and they are the part everyone looks at. The maker publishes no washing instruction on the sheet, so follow the sewn in care label.
Are the flowers really three dimensional? Yes. They are made from the dress fabric, rolled into a rose and stitched at the waist, so they stand off the surface. They are not printed and they are not embroidered. The supplier calls them stereo flowers, which is a translation of the Chinese term for three dimensional.
Does it pull on over the head? The supplier sheet says pullover, but its own flat photographs show a concealed zip with a metal pull at the centre back neck. Go by the photograph. There is a zip.
How long is the skirt? The maker chart gives 110 cm at S rising to 115 cm at 3XL, measured from the shoulder. That sits at or just below the knee on most wearers, which is why we call it a midi rather than a knee length.
Is the fit as close as it looks? Yes. The skirt is a pencil cut and the chart waist runs 68 cm at S to 96 cm at 3XL. The stretch in the knit gives you movement, not extra room, so compare the chart waist against yourself before choosing.
