What is the blue pattern on the rim?
It is a printed tokusa design of fine blue radial stripes that ring the rim, set against a plain cream stoneware body with a thin brown line at the lip. The print stays even and consistent from bowl to bowl across the set.
Is the bowl microwave safe?
Yes. The stoneware body reheats broth and noodles in the microwave, so you can warm a serving without moving it to another dish.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes. The fired surface is dishwasher safe, and warm water with regular detergent is enough to keep the glaze and the printed rim clean.
What is the difference between the two shapes?
The hat shape flares wider toward the rim and suits ramen and soup, while the threaded shape keeps a straighter wall with a ribbed outer surface that gives your hands more grip when the bowl is hot.
How big is the bowl and how much does it hold?
The small hat bowl measures about 18cm across and 6.3cm tall and holds around 750ml, while the large threaded bowl reaches close to 19.8cm wide at about 1175ml. The 4.5 inch rice bowl is sized for sides and steamed rice.
What can I serve in it?
It fits ramen, udon, soba and pho as well as rice bowls and salads. The deep well keeps a full portion contained while the rim gives chopsticks a wall to gather noodles against.
Is the stoneware heavy or fragile?
The body is a solid fired stoneware that sits stable on a footed base and holds heat through a slow meal. Treat it like quality dinnerware and it stays smooth through regular microwave and dishwasher use.
Do the sizes stack for storage?
Yes. The matching sizes nest in a cabinet between uses, and the rice bowl sets alongside the larger bowls for a paired serving without taking much shelf space.
